Dental Bonding: Why You Should Bond With This Cosmetic Service
Tooth bonding at Dr. John Chu’s office has proven to be a good option for patients looking for an easy and quick way to get a new smile. Using bonding on teeth is the application of a tooth-colored resin material that uses adhesives and high intensity curing light to fix your smile.
Tooth bonding is often used for fixing cosmetic dental procedures such as:
Repairing decayed teeth
Repairing chipped or cracked teeth
Improving the appearance of discolored teeth
Closing spaces between teeth
Making teeth look longer
Changing the shape of teeth
A cosmetic alternative to fillings
Protecting a portion of the tooth’s root that may be exposed when gums recede
What To Expect During the Bonding Procedure
Dental bonding takes little to no preparation, and the use of anesthesia if often not needed, only if the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth. Dr. Chu will match the shade of your existing teeth when selecting a composite resin color.
There are two types of bonding that can be used:
Direct Composite Bonding- Direct composite bonding is the process where dentists use tooth-colored fusions that are directly applied and sculpted to the surfaces of the teeth that are most visible when you smile, for slightly invasive smile makeovers. A tooth-colored putty-like resin is applied to the tooth, then molded and smoothed until it's in the preferred shape. It is then hardened with an ultraviolet curing light, and the prior step is repeated until the filling or veneer has reached its final shape.
Adhesive Bonding- Adhesive bonding is the process of attaching a restoration to a tooth with adhesives. This method is commonly used for esthetic crowns, porcelain veneers, bridges and inlays/onlays.

Dentures South Pasadena, CA

Learn more about dentures that improve South Pasadena residents eating, speaking and smiling.

We need our teeth for three main functions--to speak properly, to process our food thoroughly and to smile confidently in social settings. If you're having a problem with any of these three functions, all of these needs can be met with dentures from Dr. John Chu, D.M.D.Dentures South Pasadena, CA

Dentures were created to provide a simple and inexpensive solution for people who have missing teeth. They are acrylic dental appliances that we custom design to fit over the gums when you have a problem with missing teeth. The denture looks like an actual set of teeth and gums, and in some cases (namely partial dentures) they are attached to a wire to help keep it in place.

South Pasadena dentist Dr. Chu offers four main types of dentures for patients.

  • Conventional Complete Dentures
  • Immediate Complete Dentures
  • Partial Dentures
  • Overdenture

Make sure to talk to Dr. Chu about which fit is best for you and your oral health.

The process of getting your dentures is simpler than you might think and takes about a month. We start by taking an impression of your mouth and evaluating the shade of your natural teeth.  This helps us make a custom set that is unique to your mouth.  When they're ready, we'll have you come back in to test the fit, and then you're on your way.

Are you nervous about getting dentures? Well, no need to be. Millions of Americans wear partial or complete dentures whether you can spot them or not. Schedule an appointment with our South Pasadena dental office today!
